You looked towards the door again and notice a button, faintly glowing green. Trying not to trip on the cables, you walk over and press the button. The door unseals with a weighty *thwumpf*. The scalpel snaps in the hole. Trying to remove the remnants, you give yourself a small cut. It pops open, and inside there is a small metallic device. The inside of the lid shows diagram, with the text, "Time Warper Installation". The diagram shows the device being placed onto the persons forearm, and then a button at the wider end being pressed. The diagram advises you to place it on your forearm, and press the button. With a slight hesitation, you press the button. Wires quickly spike out of the upper edge of the device and dig into your skin. You scream and fall to the ground in pain as it sinks into your flesh. After a brief moment, the sharp pain fades to a dull ache. You clench your fist and- You feel a strange sensation as the world around you slows. Or are you now moving faster? Either way, as you walk around the lab you feel a slight dissonance between your body and brain. The machines that previously whirred at a rapid rate now sound like a low hum, and the mechanical arms move at about an eight of their previous speeds. You clench your fist again, and with a slight bit of recoil, return to regular time. As you step into the room, blindingly bright lights turn on. The walls are covered in servers, their lights blinking. Cables cover the ground, leading to the middle of the room At the center lays an orb like structure with a chrome exterior. It seems to be the mainframe of the building, the heart of whatever operation is happening in this place. You pull the pin on the grenade, clench your fist and throw the grenade at the core. As soon as it leaves your grasp, it slows to a near halt. You run as fast as you can, almost losing your balance due to the dissonance. You rush to the fire escape stairs knowing that the elevator will only slow you down. Bursting through the front door of the building, you start to feel the toll that the time slowing is taking on your body. Just to be safe, you run across the road and then clench your fist again. The recoil hits you hard and you drop to your knees. Infront of you, the building starts to collapse and rubble falls into the street. You don't know where you are, but anywhere is better than under there. You collect yourself, and start to walk away before anybody arrives to the scene. (align: "==><==") [ ---THE END--- ]You take out the strange screwdriver and look for anywhere you could slot it in. Despite looking over it and double checking, you can't even see the slightest of gaps. In frustration, you attempt to stab the screwdriver into the orb, however it bounces off of the mainframe's hull and all you recieve is a sore wrist. [[If at first you don't succeed ->Mainframe]] (set: $main_frame to 2)You wrap your leg around the doorframe to keep the door open so you can make a quick escape without being impaled by shrapnel. You pull the pin on the grenade, throw it at the core, and run. You hear the initial explosion of the grenade as you are about halfway to the end of the hallway. As soon as you reach the end, the mainframe explodes and sends a fireball bursting through the previously solid steel door. You are engulfed in the flames as the shockwave rocks the building. The foundations start to collapse in on themselves, and before long your charred body is buried in the ruble. (align: "==><==") [ ---THE END--- ]You try to create an incision in the exterior of the mainframe so you can rip out it's core. Unfortunately, as you put the slightest bit of pressure onto the scalpel, the tip bends against the mainframes hull. You try to bend it back into place, but this only shatters the blade.
