The blood is dry but still enough to color your skin a light pink. "That's..." Before you can keep dragging him. He twists out of your arms and lunges for the trash can beside the deak. You watch with trembling shoulders as he empties the contents of his stomach into the trash can. Its a moment of weakness that can't last. into the vents You remove the clips holding the vent in place before crawling into the tight space just in time for the door to click open. A sharp scream fills the air and echos in the tight space. You begin to crawl through the tight space. Between the darkness and the screams it's hard to breathe. When you reach the end of the tunnel, you hear Hawkins and Williams arguing. Confrontation 2You entered the vents just as the door to the office slammed open. The door hit the wall with an echo that had you moving faster down the dark tunnel. Steven shuffled behind you barely able to squeeze into the small vent let alone move in it. After everything that's happened, you can't deny that you've lost faith in Hawkins. "By now Hawkins will be running for the vent exit if you get going now, you might manage to catch up to him." Before you can keep questioning him, there is a shuffle of footsteps in the hallway. You look toward the doorway with the knowledge that Hawkins would never come back. "Go stand beside the door and stay quiet," Williams whispers. You follow the order without hesitation. There wasn't a single bone in your body that wanted to see those creatures again. Hanna enters the room first. Her skin is a pale white color and her eyes are a milky white. She chitters like a beetle and her head tilts. Behind her Steven walks in slowly. Chunks of his skin are missing from where Hanna bit into him. You cover your mouth to keep from breathing too loudly. They don't see you, but you see the look the two monsters toss at each other. Both of them whine a little and Steven snaps at Hanna only to back down when she growls at him. //Bang// Williams looks up at them with defiance when Hanna growls. He'd aimed at the ceiling to get their attention. It works and he laughs when the two of them lunge for him. Hunt for Hawkins 2You run down the hallway to a sympany of screams. Mixed into the screams is laughter. Williams is laughing while being eaten alive by those creatures. You cover your ears as you run. There's nothing you can do for him and his sacrifice is the only thing keeping you alive. The endless hallways blend together becoming nothing more than a blurr. //Crunch// You stop and look down finding glass under your feet. You've made it to the CZ hallway. The windows are broken and looking closer at the floor you can see a blood trail. You pale before walking forward. There's no way for you to head back the way you came unless you want to die. You slowly walk down the hallway and freeze when the sound of raised voices gets your attention. "Are you going to kill me Hawkins?" "I just might you useless brat!" Escape ending Found HawkinsSteven chokes and falls backwards. His knees hit the floor with a thud. There is a moment of silence before Hanna screamed. She looked up at the creature coming entering through the door only to freeze when Steven launches himself off the floor. He slams his injured shoulder into the door with a roar of pain. The creature rages and claws at his back. He shoves the door shut with blood running down his body then collapses agaisnt it. His body is shaking as you kneel beside him. "Stevie," Hanna screams. She falls to the floor beside him. He doesn't speak, there are no inspirational last words. Instead his eyes lose their color and his chest grows still. Hanna's hands waver above his body. You reach out and lay two fingers on his neck. There isn't any pulse. He's dead. You flinch before pulling her into your arms. She thrashes and you hold her tighter. One of her nails cut into your arm but you don't let her go. You run a hand over her back trying to calm her down and whisper words of comfort in her ear. It does nothing. When a gunshot echos down the hallway you flinch. You look up but your focus isn't on the hallway but on Steven's body. His hand fingers are twitching. It's impossible. That's not StevenHanna screams and Steven steps away with a startled sound. The creature fell to the floor with a thud. The shock doesn't last long, in an instant Steven is snapping into motion. He grabs the door and begins to push it shut. "We need to close this now!" You rush forward and help him begin to close the door. On the other side you can see the shambling forms of more of those creatures. Once it's clicked shut, he begins to re-tighten the wheel. You slide down the wall beside the door and stare at the creature. It looks like every single horrifying nightmare you've ever had come to life. You shift away from it. Steven pulls Hanna into his arms and begins to whisper to her in a soft voice. Three survivorsHanna leans almost fully against you and you half carry her down the hallway. You don't mention Steven knowing that she'll want to go back and check on him. Instead you keep moving toward the gunshot. "It's going to be okay," you whisper trying not to lose your mind as well. The last thing you need to do is upset her even more. You duck into the first room you saw and shut the door quickly. If the escape hatch wasn't going to work then you needed to get to the vents. You gently helped Hanna sit down in a chair before begining pulling your map from your pocket. You begin to look through the map. "What are you doing," Hanna asks. She looks up from her hands with a dense frown on her face. "Getting us out of here." You shove the map back into your pocket and look out the door before motioning for her to follow you. Escape with HannaThere is a scream the instant you step into the hallway. You look back for a moment, then squeeze Hanna's hand. You don't hesitate to begin walking down the hallway. The top priority now is getting away from whatever Steven turned into. Preferably without his wife finding out. The flickering lights above you are a reminder of old horror movies. Even now ther eis a chill crawling up your spine. If a monster manages to catch up to you, what could you do to save yourself? Should you abandon Hanna? You look at the woman and flinch at the blank expression on her face. The unsettling feeling becomes even worse when you reach the Contamination Zone hallway. Broken glass crunches under your foot. A stark reminder of hwats happened to the once beautiful lab. You look down and there are blood drops on the floor. Following the blood trail with your eyes leads to a small side room. You can hear arguing from inside. Hanna Ending Confrontation with HawkinsThe top priority right now is getting out of the facility. You guide Hanna past the door with a strained look on your face. An uneasy feeling drifts through you but you don't turn around. At the end of the hall is an open vent that should lead to the outside. You help Hanna into the large vent shaft and don't look back even when another gunshot is heard behind you. The tunnel is dark but much better than staying behind. You reach the end of the tunnel and push open the outer grate. Fresh air slaps you in the face leaving you breathless for a moment. Then you help Hanna out of the Tunnel. End screenYou push open the door and find Hawkins standing over Ajax. There is blood pooling around the Disease Specilist but he doesn't seem bothered. Ajax is laughing at the Director despite the gun pointed at his head. Neither of them have noticed you yet. You flinch and turn toward Ajax who lowers the gun slowly. He lowers the gun with an expression of hate on his face. "Asshole wanted to kill me," he says. He tightens his grip on the gun and you twitch. You look back at Hanna who's still hovering in the doorway and you doubt that she even noticed what happened. "Can you walk on your own," you ask. Ajax huffs then nods. He keeps a firm hold on the gun and pushes himself up using the wall. You return to Hanna. "So what happened to her?" Your shoulders tense at the question, but Hanna just looks at him blankly. "I'll tell you later," you say. There's no telling how Hanna will react if you mention Steven. Ajax nods sharply and heads toward the door with a noticable limp. Ajax and Hanna EndingYou follow Ajax down the hall and into the vent leading outside the facility all the while keeping your arm wrapped around Hanna. The tunnel is dark and tight but nothing too horrible. What you have no idea how to deal with is Ajax humming. He'd started when you entered the vent tunnel and hadn't stopped. When the exit of the tunnel came into view he pushed it open with a groan. End screenWith a determined frown you push the incident out of your mind and keep moving. The only life that matters is your own. You push on until you find the open vent that you know leads outside. Entering the vent you ignore the sound of a gunshot behind you. With one hand on the wall you navigate down the pahtway until you reach the exit. It's already opened. You're pretty sure that Charlie already used this exit and is miles away by now. You step out of the vent and relax when fresh air hits your face. End screenYou push open the door and find Hawkins standing over Ajax. Survival ending You help Ajax down the tunnel making sure to keep your balance. When you finally make it to the end, the vent grate is open. You ajust your grip on Ajax and head out into the sun. End screen"You bastard!" Steven doesn't hesitate to punch Hawkins in the face. The impact causes him to stumble but he still holds a gun in his hand. You flinch feeling a bit sick when he aims the weapon at Steven. A normal person would flinch when a gun is shoved in their face. Steven is a man who just lost his wife. He tackles Hawkins sending the gun sliding away. You watch unable to look away as he begins to pummel the director. "You son of a bitch your the reason my wife's dead!" There is a sickening crack when Hawkins skull hits the ground. You flinch but can't look away from the beating. When it finally ends Steven is a bloody mess. He sits there staring at the directors body then at his bloody hands. Even from where your standing, you see the moment it clicks in his head what he's done. In less than a second he's vomiting on the floor beside the body. You move quickly and kneel beside him. Despite the twisting feeling in your stomach you begin to rub circles on his back. The attempt at comfort has him leaning against you. "Well I didn't expect that," Ajax says. He looks between you and Steven before trying to push himself up. "I'd love to give you time to get over it, but we need to go." He's right. You know he's right. Hanna would've heard everything and start making her way here. With that in mind, you begin helping Steven to his feet. Ajax and Steven endingYou follow Ajax into the Vent at the end of the wall. As you make your way through the dark tunnel you silently pray to every god you can think of that Hanna doesn't find this exit. When the exit comes into view, Steven rushes past you. He almost runs out of the open exit. You adjust your grip on Ajax and step out into the sun as well. End screenWhat just happened? That thing couldn't be human. You look down at the pale lifeless body and you have no idea what do do. To make it worse, those things are on the other side of the door. You look up just in time to see Steven kick the body. "What the hell is this thing," Steven snaps. "Don't touch it!" Hanna jerks him back. She looks down at the body like it's going to start moving again. You watch them for a moment before standing up slowly. "We need to get out of here," you say. Steven nods then pulls Hanna away from the creature. "Should we head for the vents," Hanna asks. "It is the only other exit we have," you say. "Let's get moving, I don't want to risk that thing getting up again," Steven says. He shoots a look of mistrust toward the thing on the floor. Williams and Hawkins When you don't follow quickly enough, Steven reached back and grabs your hand. His grip on you is tight but you don't protest. In less than an instant, Hanna follows his action by grabbing your other hand. "Thank you, $name," she whispers. She squeezes your hand gently. You nod slowly but don't realy hear her. That creature was wearing the same uniform as a security officer. Had the incident in the Contamination Zone caused them to become like that. If that was the case then going outside might not be safe, but it wasn't possible to stay here either. The echo of voices causes the three of you to stop. "And here I thought the great Mickael Hawkins was better at keeping his temper in check." That was Williams. Steven tenses and walks toward the room where the voices are coming from. He lets go of you and Hanna only to freeze. In the center of the room, Hawkins stands facing Williams. There was a gun in his hand aimed at the investor. "I warned you that this seruem could have concequences," Hawkins snaps. Williams laughed without fear. His eyes met your own for a moment then he turned his attention to Hawkins. Williams and Hawkins 2Steven simmers in rage. His hands clenching and unclenching. You pull Hanna behind you protectively. "We both know that those creatures spread by body fluids. Any bite, scratch, or blood contact will turn a normal human into a monster," Williams states. He doesn't seem bothered by the gun in his face. So those things used to be human. "And you were the one who pushed the experiment forward," Hawkins snaps. "I wasn't the only one," Williams says. The implication is lost on no one especially not Steven. For a moment the scientist is frozen then his whole body lurches forward. "You bastard!" Hawkins barley gets a chance to turn around before Steven is punching him in the face. The Director stumbles unable to find his balance when another punch lands on his nose. There snap of his nose breaking echos in the sudden silence. "Go get him darling," Hanna whispers just loud enough for you to hear. You twist to look at her with a shocked expression but she doesn't notice. She's grinning so widely that it's frankly terrifying. With a pale face, you turn back to where Steven is repeatedly slamming his fists into the Directors face. When it finally ends Steven is a bloody mess. He sits there staring at the Directors unmoving body then at his bloody hands. Williams 3 Williams 3 "What's so funny," Hanna snaps. Her patience has worn so thin that her face has twisted into a vision of pure anger. You silently agree. There isn't anything funny about the situation you've found yourself in. "Well it's not every day that I see such a show," Williams says. He moves to pick the gun up off the floor. Hanna darts forward grabbing the gun off the floor then aims it at his chest. "Are you going to shoot me little girl," he asks. You tense but stand up slowly. No matter how much of a terrible person Williams was, you didn't want him to die. "We want answers," you say before Hanna actually does shoot him. You almost regret that action when he chuckles. "Ask away, unless you're scared." "What are the pale monsters?" "Don't you recognize your own creations," Williams asks. He chuckles when Hanna shifts the gun in her hand. "Those creatures were created from the seruem you helped develop." The missing piece of the puzzle slams into place in your mind and you flinch. You step back. That can't be true yet everything you've seen points to it being the truth. Those things were the byproduct of the work done by the team. "And you knew that it created those monsters," Steven asks. He pushs off the floor to stand beside his wife. "Why didn't you say anything?" "Because it works," Williams says. The pure joy on his face is disgusting. "The seruem brings the dead back to life. Unwanted answers Unwanted answersYou lose the battle with your stomach. It's a close thing but you manage to reach the trash can just in time. With aching knees you kneel beside the desk. "It's okay, we're going to be okay," Hanna whispers. She rubs your back slowly. You dry heave over the trash can before leaning fully against the woamn. Those creatures used to be human and your team was the reason they were monsters. It was your that your friend almost died. "Looks like our lead scientist has a weak stomach," Williams taunts. Then he laughs. It's a bitter sound that sends shivers down your spine. You look up slowly only to find no emotion in his eyes. "How can you laugh about this," Steven asks. "Because it's hilarious, I had you children create a virus that'll turn the entire world into monsters and you had no idea," Williams says. "Don't you find that hilarious?" You flinch before flinching. Steven lunges forward landing a punch on Williams that causes the man to stumble. "Yo-" "Well damn I was hopping I'd get to kill him." Your gaze snaps to the doorway where Charlie is holding Ajax upright. The two men look to where Williams has suddenly gone pale. Ajax CharlieThe man nodded. He laid a hand on his stomach and walked into the room. "Your hurt!" You stand then hurry to his side. The blood on his shirt is enough to make you pale. He accepts your help with a resigned huff. "That's impossible," Williams says. He looks at Ajax with a pale face and shaking hands. "Upset I'm not dead," Ajax asks. He lets you lead him to the desk and concents to Hanna looking over his wounds. "Of course he's upset, he did try to kill you," Charlie says. He picks the gun up off the ground and aims it at Williams with a glare. "He did what," you snap. When Charlie repeats himself, you sneer at Williams. How dare he try to kill your teammate then make himself out to be the victim? "He's infect-" "The infection travels through body fluids not scratches. "I thought you'd be gone by now," you say. It's no secret that Charlie cares more about his life than anyone else. "That rodent dragged me back," he says. Ajax chuckles and sits down on a desk. He winces when Hanna begins to look over his injuries. "You could've said no Char-bar," Ajax teases. You catch a hint of red on Charlie's ears when he looks away from Ajax. "If we kill him, then we'll be just as bad as Hawkins," you say. There's been enough death today. You didn't want to see anyone else die. Charlie tenses. You can see him thinking through dozens of possibilities to get you out of the way. Then he tightens his grip on the gun. His eyes narrow in determination and you flinch. "Charlie, it's okay," Ajax says. He's standing again with Hanna's help. "He tried to kill you!" Thats the crux of the matter. You know that Charlie, no matter how much he pretends not to be, is an insanely protective man. "You can shoot him if he tries it again," you say. Hopefully the stipulation will be enough to keep Williams from doing anything stupid. "I'll agree to that," Williams says. He nods sharply in Ajax's direction.
