About La Bombonera
The Alberto J. Armando Stadium is an association football stadium in La Boca, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Widely known as La Bombonera (The Chocolate Box) due to its shape, with a "flat" stand on one side of the pitch and three steep stands round the rest of the stadium. It represents the heart and soul of Boca Juniors.
It has a capacity of 54,000. The stadium is widely regarded as one of the most emblematic stadiums of the world, and has been declared of public interest by the Government of Buenos Aires. The unusual shape was dictated by the limited space available in the dense neighborhood of La Boca.
The acoustics are legendary; when the fans (La Doce) jump, the stadium literally shakes, a phenomenon known as the pulse of the game. "La Bombonera no tiembla, late" (La Bombonera doesn't tremble, it beats) is a popular saying. It is a bucket-list destination for football fans worldwide seeking the rawest passion in the sport.
