About Signal Iduna Park
The Westfalenstadion, officially named Signal Iduna Park for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the home of Borussia Dortmund. With a capacity of 81,365, it is Germany's largest stadium and the seventh-largest in Europe.
Reason for its fame is the "Yellow Wall" (Gelbe Wand), the south stand (Südtribüne). It is the largest free-standing grandstand in Europe, holding 24,454 standing spectators. The atmosphere created here is widely considered the best in Europe, with intense noise and elaborate tifo displays.
Built for the 1974 World Cup, it has been renovated and expanded several times. The distinctive yellow pylons on the exterior corners support the roof structure. The stadium's design, with steep stands close to the pitch, ensures that the fans feel almost on top of the players, creating a unique and intimidating home advantage.
