Report going to the Maison from the Cour:

Instead of going nowhere from the Maison:
say "Vous pouvez descendre les marches au sud, ou monter par l'échelle."
Les murs de la maison (m) are scenery in the Maison. "Ces épais murs de pierre ont vu vos ancêtres grandir." Understand "mur" and "pierre" and "pierres" as the murs de la maison.
L' echelle reelle (f) is a door. It is up of the Maison and down of the Cour Etrange. The printed name of the echelle reelle is "échelle". Understand "barreau" and "barreaux" and "bois" and "massif" as the echelle.
The echelle is open. The echelle is not openable. The echelle is not lockable. The echelle is locked.
The description of the echelle is "Cette grande échelle de bois massif [if the player is in the Maison]mène au[otherwise]descend du[end if] grenier."
Instead of entering or climbing the echelle when the player is in the Maison:
try going up.
Instead of entering or climbing the echelle when the player is in the Cour Etrange:
try going down.
Instead of going up from the Maison when the echelle is locked and the player does not carry the cle:
say "Vous n'avez pas la clé du grenier sur vous."
Before going up from the Maison when the player carries the cle:
now the echelle is unlocked.
Report going to the Cour Etrange from the Maison:
say "Vous grimpez l'échelle."
